Giovanna Santaera è dal marzo 2024 assegnista di ricerca in L-ART/ 06 - Cinema, fotografia e televisione su fondi del progetto PRIN 2023 "CAOS – Catastrophes of Southern Italy. Photogénie and remediation of natural disasters" (Responsabile scientifica: Simona Busni). Nel precedente anno ha svolto il medesimo ruolo per il PRIN 2020 "Fototesti. Retoriche, poetiche e aspetti cognitivi dell'Unità di Catania (responsabili scientifica: Maria Rizzarelli). La sua attività di ricerca è stata finalizzata alla realizzazione di una piattaforma digitale dedicata alla produzione fototestuale italiana. Ha conseguito il dottorato di ricerca in Scienze per il Patrimonio e la Produzione Culturale presso l'Università di Catania nel dicembre 2022 con una tesi intitolata Cinema trasmesso: media, musei e cultura visuale. Dal 2018 è membro di redazione della rivista di studi «Arabeschi» su letteratura e visualità. I suoi principali interessi di ricerca e professionali sono legati alle narrazioni audiovisive e ai loro patrimoni, all'intermedialità e ai media digitali all'incrocio con questioni sociali e culturali. Since March 2024, Giovanna Santaera has been a research fellow in L-ART/06 – Cinema, Photography and Television, funded by the 2023 PRIN project ‘CAOS – Catastrophes of Southern Italy. Photogénie and remediation of natural disasters’ at the the University of Catania (Scientific Supervisor: Simona Busni). In the previous year, she held the same role for the PRIN 2020 project ’Fototesti. Rhetorics, poetics and cognitive aspects" of the Catania unit (Scientific Supervisor: Maria Rizzarelli). Her research has focused on the creation of a digital platform dedicated to Italian phototextual production. She obtained her PhD in Heritage and Cultural Production Sciences from the University of Catania in December 2022 with a thesis entitled ‘Transmitting Cinema: media, museums and visual culture’. Since 2018, she has been a member of the editorial board of the academic journal ‘Arabeschi’ on literature and visuality. Her main research and professional interests relate to audiovisual narratives and their heritage, intermediality and digital media at the intersection with social and cultural issues.
